FROZEN BERRIES

Another berry season has come to a close – thanks to all our customers for your continued support! Going forward, orders for frozen cherries/haskap/saskatoons must be placed through our online store. Once we have your order, we will contact you and arrange a convenient time for pick up.

APPLES FOR FALL

We are taking orders for #1 grade apples through our online store. There is no u-pick option on apples, but we offer pre-picked 10 lb bags ($20) of spray-free Goodland apple. Fruit will be picked in late August and chilled for September pickup.

BUILD YOUR OWN TINY ORCHARD!

Have you considered a tiny orchard in your own backyard? We have a selection of fruit plants available including haskap, black currant and gooseberry. All can be ordered anytime through our online store (https://riverbend-orchards.square.site/) for pickup at our farm location.

OUR FARM, IN A NUTSHELL:

Our orchards are planted on 20 acres of fertile, river bottom soil at the south side of Portage la Prairie. We are conveniently located within city limits at 100 Old Bridge Road. Our country store is open 6 days a week in July and features a selection of jams made from our fruit as well as Saskatoon pies and apple cider. These items can also be purchased in the off-season through our online store.

Each year fruit picking commences in late June with haskap (honeyberries), followed by saskatoons (early July) and gooseberries (mid-July), then tart cherries in mid to late July. Cranberries and apples are typically ready in early September. Customers can choose to pick their own fruit or buy pre-picked fruit from our coolers. Pre-picked fruit is available fresh in July and frozen for a longer period into the fall.

Riverbend Orchards is also a licensed propagator of haskap cultivars developed at the University of Saskatchewan. We produce 6,000 young plants of the newest cultivars each summer.
